This week I found out something about animals that really blows my mind. I used to think that animals may have intelligence, but I never thought that they can be so similar to us. Due to readings last week, I learned that animals can be so similar to human, that they see and experience the world very much the same way we do. I decided my research topic to focus to be about smart birds, which are parrots and crows. That's why I majorly focused on topics about bird research, especially about things that are related to birds' intelligence, birds' society, and birds' communication. I followed a lot of bird protecting organizations and research centers. Besides, I also followed some professors of neuroscience, animal behavior, and biology. They sometimes post useful information about their new researches, which can be helpful for my essay. Besides, I also followed some authors of books that are about bird behaviors. They sometimes tweets about the sources they use in their books, or some interesting facts they find out when exploring for ideas. One of the most fascinating things I found is that a parrot was able to recall burglars' names and helped its owner of catching the thieves. The thing that amazed me is that the parrot was able to understand what humans are saying. It knows that specific words in humans sentences mean their names. It was able to identify which words mean what with its bird brain. I commented some blogs of my classmates. I found that some people are not happy with using Twitter to help them do the research. Indeed, for people who already have a lot of following accounts, it can be hard for them to extract useful information because their homepage is filled with tweets that are irrelevant to our class material.

Heya Thomas! First, I love this font that you are using, it really stood out to me the first time I visited your blog. I thought the little snippet of the parrot was really fascinating; I can't imagine how proud the owner must be knowing their pet is such a smart bird! If there's an article or story about it, I'd love to dive deeper into it to learn more about the parrot.

Hey Thomas, I was super excited for the little documentary too. The parrots interactions with the scientists was amazing to see and to watch them break down the problems and issues and find a solution before even attempting it was nuts!
