While doing research on potential problems that New Caledonian Crows face, I found that although these crows are proven to have high intelligence and consciousness, they are still seen as pests by human and hunting seasons are legally held for farmers to hunt them. I think this is the most important one, but since crows are not endangered species and are bad for human agriculture, it seems like not many people are caring about their "rights" and lives, and they are not main focuses of any bird protection organizations. There's even no statistics showing how many crows are killed per year. I guess nobody cares about how many rats or mosquitos are killed because they are pests. Another problem they face is the loss of natural habitats due to climate change caused by human activities. However, that's one of the main issues every bird species face. I think I will focus on climate change because there are more data for me to find online that supports my focus, and there are solutions to that. I found that for hunting of crows, some states have laws restricting days in a week that hunters can hunt crows. About climate change, I found that some organizations, such as Audubon, are protesting for building bird friendly buildings and reduce green house gases. Building bird friendly buildings is the more feasible one because it is more realistic to give them artificial habitats than to rebuild their already destroyed natural habitats. Audubon is a good organization I found that I can find predictions of impact of climate change to certain species. My best two tweets are about them that they provide such useful information.
I learn from the analysis that I need to write my essay in a more reasonable way, in other words, I should be using more ethos and logos than pathos. I will quote the part that they discuss about the amount of pain an animal feels is the same as us. I will also use more reasoning to support my points.
I only reviewed one of my assigned peers because the other one did not submit anything. The one I reviewed is still not completed, which the wordcount is less than required and he only briefly include his annotations of the BIG 3. I think the best thing I wrote is to tell him to include more connections and conclusion of himself. The best one I received is to tell me to include more sources, which I only had 6.
This below is my Infographic. It includes why crows should have rights and problems they face. At the end, it has solutions to the problems.
